Wanås - Sweden

Wanås offers a combination of art, nature and history. Since 1987, it has presented contemporary international art with a focus on site-specific installations. Wanås consists of a medieval castle, an organic farm, an art gallery, and a sculpture park.

Since the start in 1987, the Wanås Foundation’s educational programme, Wanås+, has expanded. The focus is on programmes concerning contemporary art’s beneficial qualities with the aspirations of understanding and interpreting contemporary artistic forms of expression. The programme involves adults, teenagers and children.

Tours, workshops and further education programmes take place in the Park, the Barn and the Stable as well as in the historical exhibition. Throughout the region, collaborations take place in various projects on a continuous basis; with colleges and universities as well as with high schools through the annual Wanås Youth Project. The aim of the programme is to raise awareness and interest for contemporary art and history.
