Core to the work and vision of The Long Run is the importance of collaboration and learning. The approach adopted by the Zeitz Foundation in all that it does is underlain by these two basic processes.
By learning, we mean that we value those concerted activities that increase the capacity and willingness of individuals, institutions, and communities to gain and effectively use new knowledge and skills to grow, mature, and adapt creatively to changes and challenges.
Such learning requires that individuals and communities be open to anticipating and adapting to evolving values, technologies, expectations, and conditions. In fact, we see the process of learning as a positive evolution in and of itself—working our way towards helping make the world a better place. Such learning, we believe, is best brought about through collaboration, when individuals or institutions work together for a common goal by sharing knowledge, learning, and building together.
Through collaboration, a positive mindset and willingness to think creatively can result in the generation of new ideas, inventions, and approaches that enable us to evolve and address the changing conditions around us, identifying challenges and coming up with solutions.
Many of the most pressing problems facing the world today can only be addressed through creative collaboration at all levels and throughout many different scales, from the individual to the government. Recognising and grasping opportunities relies on people working together and sharing knowledge, ideas, and aspirations.
Collaboration and learning empowers individuals and groups to gain and share the knowledge that will sustain us and our planet for the long run. Through The Long Run and through its programming, the Zeitz Foundation aims to provide opportunities and a platform for learning and collaboration throughout the world.
