Tahi Beach and Sustainability

Tahi’s aim is to protect and enhance the natural ecosystems and biodiversity by providing corridors of natural habitat and extending this balance of protection and enhancement to social, economic and future generational considerations.

As an integral part of our philosophy these are applied as a framework to all decisions throughout Tahi, with the long-term restoration and conservation of intrinsic ecological values transforming the vital spirit of the land—native trees planted (currently over 120,000), wetlands reintroduced combined with pest control. This reawakening is heralded by the flocks of birds reappearing (over 55 bird species including 18 threatened species) and echoed by each wave as it pounds the shore, just as the Maori god of the seaTangaroa once called for there to be light.

While staying at Tahi you can enjoy the taste and sounds of nature, from our own gardenorganic vegetables and fruit or try your hand at fishing or collecting seafood along our private beach frontage with direct access to kilometres of golden sand surf beach.

Delight in our manuka honeyunique to New Zealand with its wonderful caramel like texture and rejuvenative qualities, that helps not only youalso our environment. As we use all profits to support conservation of biodiversity at Tahi, and offset any inherent carbon footprint by planting native and indigenous trees, reintroducing wetlands, and practising pest control, all the while supporting our local community.
